The first 25
Its time for the next chapter-
About a year ago the leadership of La Croix agreed that it was time for new, clear vision as we continue in the life of our church. In large part, the original vision of La Croix has been reached and now we needed from God a picture of the future that produced passion in us to strive towards. The mission stays the same, we are climbing further up the same mountain toward Christ Jesus but it’s a new phase of the journey.
God speaks to the people-
What we were convinced of, is that ever since the day the church was born on Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 is that, in the church, God speaks to an entire community and not simply to one leader or small group of leaders in a church. This proposed a challenge of a large church. Sure, it would be easier for a small few to declare a new way forward but that would not be faithful to what we feel the Spirit of God is doing in our community. However we also did not want to give the impression that we were going to ‘take a vote’ and see who wanted what to happen next. We need to see the council of God in humility and expectation.
Asking and gathering-
After gathering a team of trusted staff and non-staff men and women to guide this effort we decided to have a sermon series and a small group curriculum work together to get our people thinking, praying, and fasting about the direction of the church. We called that series ‘MOVE’. After hosting small groups, informational meeting, preaching and asking for what God’s dreams for our church are we received well over 1,000 responses in the form of 3x5 cards, emails, “what if?” forms, and conversations.
Here we go!-
It didn’t take long to see what came to the surface. After just 50 responses, one could see where this was headed and the next 950 confirmed it over and over again. What you find here is what we believe God is calling us to and that call came from you, our church, our community, our family. This is where we are headed. The first 25 years were wonderful. Now its time to suit up and climb further up the mountain. Exponential isn't really about growth, its about a dream that only God could lead us to.
